埔里,位於南投縣北部,是台灣的地理中心。埔里鎮以其甘泉、美酒、鮮花和美麗的風景而聞名遐邇。四周環繞著山脈,因此有了 “山城” 的美譽。

埔里的面積達162.227平方公里,海拔介於380至700公尺之間,享受著亞熱帶溫暖而宜人的氣候,冬季不寒冷,夏季不酷熱。在盆地的東北,關刀山耸立,高達1,924公尺,是這個地區的最高峰,而其他三面則由集集山脈的山頭和小丘所環繞,如西塔山、白葉山、觀音山、三角嶺等。

埔里兩大主要河流眉溪和南港溪,它們分別在盆地西部的烏牛欄谷地經過,最終在水尾附近匯合。

埔里曾經是眉社、埔社等原住民部落和平埔族的聚會之地,加上其山區地理位置,開發較晚,因此保留了豐富的族群歷史。回顧埔里盆地的發展過程,可以感受到這座山城充滿歷史和文化氛圍。

由於中海拔地區的降雨量較低海拔地區多,這裡的森林蓬勃生長,鳥類資源也非常豐富。埔里平均每年可以看到約36種常駐鳥種,以及62種冬季候鳥。在山區,您可以發現黃山雀、白耳畫眉、冠羽畫眉等美麗的鳥類。

除了自然美景、穩定的天氣和豐富的農產品外,埔里的居民也保存和推廣埔里獨特的特色,透過 “山之城”、”水之鄉”、”花之都”、”藝之鎮” 和 “健之邑” 的主題,來展現埔里的魅力。

Puli, located in the northern part of Nantou County, is the geographical heart of Taiwan. This town is renowned for its natural springs, exquisite wines, fresh flowers, and picturesque landscapes, earning it the nickname “Mountain City” due to its surrounded by mountains.

Covering an area of 162.227 square kilometers, Puli sits at elevations ranging from 380 to 700 meters and enjoys a subtropical, temperate climate where winters are mild, and summers are pleasant. In the northeast of the basin, you’ll find Guandao Mountain, rising to an elevation of 1,924 meters, making it the highest peak in the area, while the other three sides are adorned with hills and peaks from the Jiji Mountain Range, including Xita Mountain, Baiye Mountain, Guanyin Mountain, and Sanjiaoling, among others.

Puli is intersected by two major rivers, the Meixi and the Nangang, which wind through the western part of the basin, eventually converging near Shuiwei.

Puli has a rich history as a meeting place for indigenous tribes like the Meishu and Pusu, as well as the Pingpu people. Its mountainous location and relatively late development have preserved a diverse ethnic history. Reflecting on Puli’s development, you can feel the historical and cultural charm of this “Mountain City.”

Due to its mid-elevation location, Puli enjoys abundant rainfall and lush forests, making it a haven for a variety of bird species. Puli is home to around 36 resident bird species and hosts 62 winter migratory species. Birdwatchers can spot species like the Vinaceous Rosefinch, White-eared Sibia, and Collared Finchbill in the mountainous areas.

In addition to its natural beauty, stable weather, and bountiful agricultural products, the people of Puli are dedicated to preserving and promoting the town’s unique characteristics, using themes such as “City of Mountains,” “Town of Water,” “Capital of Flowers,” “Village of Art,” and “Hub of Health” to showcase Puli’s charm.
